I’m sure that most people know what a lottery is even if they have never participated in one before.   Many people regard a lottery as the one and only hope of becoming wealthy and with this in mind they diligently buy a ticket for their local lottery.  The lotteries are like any other form of gambling, there is a small chance that you could be a winner and a very big chance that you could be a loser!  Never the less it is great fun to have a ticket for your local lottery and wait in anticipation for the draw.

Drawing lots to determine who should get a certain prize was done in ancient history.  The idea of leaving it to “fate” to make a decision that would satisfy all the parties concerned seemed to satisfy everyone.  Lotteries became popular in early history and countries began state lotteries. were a way of “selling” property and valuables.  The winner of the lottery would get the allotted land or object of value.  As time progressed lotteries became a form of amusement for the people.   It eventually became a world-wide-phenomena as most

In certain states of US and parts of the world the lotteries have been banned and un- banned as opinions change about the morals of a lottery.  The main reasons for objections were that the poor were spending their money on lottery tickets instead of daily essentials and the government would have to pay for services for them.  It was also thought that legal gambling led to illegal gambling.  Lotteries have often led to corruption in third world governments.
